It’s not easy being a keynote speaker, most people think that keynote speakers are those people that come with a bachelors degree or is a highly sought off expert in his field of study. But this is a common mistake that everyone makes. Not everyone who is born with the gift of motivating or inspiring other people holds a degree. They are simply people that possess the gift of how to inspire and change other people’s lives. These speakers know exactly what other people wish to hear so that they may steer their lives to a better course. Here are some common misconceptions people have on keynote speakers.

One:

Organizers who are at a huge rush and who badly needs a keynote speaker on the double tend to pick anyone that they think will be capable of being the keynote speaker of their function. This is a huge mistake and gamble on the part of the organizer. They have no idea if the speaker they employed is any good at speaking in front of a crowd to motivate and inspire them about the topic that has been provided to him. You might say that the one you hired may be a great presenter in front of a class or a certain crowd but that does not make him a speaker that you can mold into something they are not in one instance.

Two:

Degree holders and celebrity icons may sometimes be good at being a keynote speaker but some are just not. For example you hire a famous celebrity for your charity event as the keynote speaker because he recently won an academy award. Good thing if the celebrity you hired knows exactly what to tell the people in your charity event so that they may choose to donate more for your cause. But bad luck if the actor you hired is reading the speech they have word for word and has absolutely no idea about the cause you are trying to promote. There are also these degree holders that may be excellent at writing speeches or books but tend to stutter when in front of a crowd of people.

Three:

Hiring a novice keynote speaker is a very huge gamble. Your first impression would always be that the speaker may not make your event a success but then again there is also the possibility that the novice speaker is an absolute guru in being a speaker. Never assume anything when it comes to these speakers. It is their passion of inspiring and connecting with other people that makes them great at what they do. They know that in order for the audience to relate to whatever it is they are saying they must improvise and be flexible at all times to the topics that are provided to them. They know that not all people in their audience is willing to accept the concept that they are trying to convey but as much as possible they must constantly flip and rotate their explanation so that they may get through to everyone in the crowd.
