How a Motivational Speaker Motivates
A motivational speaker inspires and motivates their listeners towards better work performance, goal setting, and life achievements. They are there to provide you with insights and knowledge on how to adjust your daily performance in order to increase your drive towards living life to the fullest every day. The speaker cannot take you to where you are headed because he is only there to show you the right track. To show you how it is done, here are a few examples on how a motivational speaker motivates others.
Gathering the crowd
The first thing that a motivational speaker does is gathering the audience or the listeners into realizing his point. He must make sure that everyone can understand exactly what he is conversing about. This way, the speaker can definitely get the full attention of his audience. If some of the people cannot quite understand the topic being discussed, the speaker must be able to come up of a way to let everybody understand and get his point clearly. He must know how to keep the listeners fastened in their seats and make them anxious to anticipate what he will be saying next.
Illustrating and Showing Inspirational Stories and Slides
Motivational speakers must always be prepared with slides, video clips, and illustrations that show inspirational stories, photos of individuals who succeeded with their goals, among others. Speakers can get through to the audience easily when explaining stories about rags to riches and stories of rehabilitated and handicapped people who are now living a better life. People believe more in what they see than what they cannot see. Tell the stories of these individuals as if it we’re your own. Make them feel the heartaches and the hardships that these people endured before they even became successful in life. Make them relate to the stories as if it were their own life experience.
Throw in a Joke or a Mini Physical Exercise
So that your listeners won’t feel bored sitting for 3-4 hours listening to your stories and inspirational talk, you can let the audience participate in mini physical exercises or games in order to awaken them and to make sure that they would really listen. Throw in a joke or two once in a while when delivering your message so that you can make your audience laugh and snap back on their feet. It is best to keep your audience alert and attentive while you are speaking to them rather than talking for long hours. It will only make the crowd sleepy, bored, and dumbstruck. Keep in mind that you are there to motivate and inspire them to perform better and not to lull them to sleep.
Take in Questions and Clarifications
It is always best to entertain questions that the audience may have about your speech. Take in questions and answer them truthfully. In the middle of your talk, take a break for an open discussion wherein inquiries are allowed and taken into consideration. You can have a microphone placed in the middle of the room so that the audience can easily raise their hand for any questions. Answer their questions one at a time and after you have answered them, make sure to ask if you are able to give a satisfying answer. Do not forget to thank your audience for every question asked.
Above are just some of the methods that a motivational speaker uses in order to motivate a targeted audience. If you want to find out more about other techniques and strategies that can be effective for your events, you must take time in finding various resources which can provide you with valuable information.
